The last convict in Cervanová case remains behind bars

Milan Andrášik, the last convict being held in the Ľudmila Cervanová murder case, will remain in prison in Leopoldov, the Trnava Regional Court decided in a closed trial.
The court refused an appeal by the defendant against a decision by the district court in Piešťany on December 17, 2008, the SITA newswire was informed by the Trnava court spokesman Martin Sýkora.
The district court had denied the prisoner’s request for parole, citing the need for his further re-socialisation. Last week the Trnava court decided to grant parole to Andrášik’s accomplice, Miloš Kocúr, who was released.
The case is among the longest in Slovak history, and has been going on for more than 30 years. The body of medical student Ľudmila Cervanová, 19, was found on July 14, 1976, in a village outside Bratislava.
